Welcome to bp boost, the virtual skills forum that’ll help you build some of the skills you need to accelerate your career

After a challenging start to the year, we wanted to give students and graduates across the UK the opportunity to gain valuable insights from inspiring speakers and get some much needed careers advice in a virtual setting

We are putting on four informative sessions, from some truly impressive speakers. You’ll hear from industry experts who will give you the keys to getting ahead in these uncertain, virtual times as well as answering any questions you have. Sessions will include tips for how best to present virtually and how you can enhance your online applications.

• Dominic Laurie, former BBC presenter and expert communications trainer, will give a masterclass on the theory of virtual etiquette, covering important topics such as body language, setting and how to keep your audience engaged.
• Scientist, broadcaster and the BBC’s ‘face of space’, Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, , will be delivering insights into the role of science and data in the modern world, and how they can be applied in all walks of life. Drawing on her own background, Maggie will also discuss diversity in science and the importance of self-belief in overcoming other peoples’ perceptions.
• Matt Lindley will talk about resilience and overcoming challenges. Drawing on his own experiences as a RAF pilot, he’ll talk about how to reframe experiences for success and learning. Matt will also talk about how he’s found that bringing your whole, authentic self to work, is vital for success.
