February 2020: bp takes on the role of operator of the Net Zero Teesside project, which plans to capture and store emissions from gas-fired power generation using CCUS, creating the UK’s first zero-carbon industrial hub.?
May 2020: bp’s Advancing Low Carbon programme announces its latest list of accredited activities that are proven to cut, remove or offset carbon. This year, 76 activities met the criteria, up 24 on last year. As bp works towards its net zero ambition, the programme is one way of indicating the projects, big and small, that are delivering a better carbon outcome.?
June 2020: bp invests $5 million in geospatial analytics company Satelytics as part of our strategy to deploy a suite of complementary methane-detecting techniques.
July 2020: bp signs a memorandum of understanding with one of China’s leading solar project developers, JinkoPower, to provide decarbonized energy solutions and services to customers in the nation, which aims to reach 50% of power generation from non-fossil fuels by 2030.?
August 2020: bp announces it plans to provide some 70,000 EV chargers globally by 2030. This builds on previous announcements, including Aral’s plans for more than 100 ultra-fast charging points at retail sites in Germany. The new 350kW chargers aim to provide up to 350 kilometres of range in 10 minutes.?
